Whether you love them or hate them, Rainy Days are a part of life in Greensboro and High Point! Luckily, there are a plethora of indoor activities all over the city that will keep you entertained and dry. Here are a few favorites to check out!

Greensboro has an Aquarium? And a ZOO!? Absolutely! Take a visit to The Greensboro Science Center to get up close with over 1,200 species of animals! From Penguins, Otters, and Sharks to Monkeys, Hippos, and Tigers, the Science Center provides an endless opportunity to learn and interact with creatures from all over the world. The GSC is also home to the Prehistoric Passage exhibit which provides visitors the opportunity to visit life-like dinosaurs and view fossils recovered from this era. To top off the day, make sure to take a spin on the enclosed carousel at the edge of the adjacent Battleground Park!

Rain or shine, a visit to Bourbon Bowl is on everyone’s hot list. With 6 lanes of bowling, tasty craft food, and a 12-page premium cocktail menu, Bourbon Bowl has everything you need to entertain family and friends on a wet day!

Relax & Unwind with a sip and paint workshop at Wine and Design! The painting sessions are designed for all skill levels with trained artists leading you through every step. By the end of the session, you will be taking home a unique masterpiece to show off to friends and family! If you need some stress relief, take to a visit to the Madsplatter’s “Splatter Zone” for the opportunity to get crazy with colors! Madsplatter also offers paint-your-own-pottery and canvas painting workshops.

When the rain won’t stop, it is time to SHOP till you drop! The Borough Bar and Market is the perfect place for productive retail therapy with its cosmopolitan-style boutique and bar. Start off with a handcrafted coffee or cocktail before exploring their selection of eclectic clothes, gifts, and home décor.

Has your rainy day led to watching reruns of HGTV and the DIY network? Luckily, Greensboro’s Nailed It DIY Studio offers the opportunity to channel your inner Joanna Gaines with DIY Workshops! Create a masterpiece for your home with their Open Studio Time by simply choosing a project from their collection – including wood signs, porch planks, serving trays, and much more. The instructor will guide you through the construction and customization of your piece! Nailed It also offers take-home kits inclusive of all materials, instructions, and even a reference video.

In 2021, the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts opened its state-of-the-art facility in downtown Greensboro and it quickly has become a powerhouse for live events. From Broadway productions to Comedy shows, the Tanger Center hosts a wide variety of events throughout the year in their 3000-seat venue. If you are in the mood for a more intimate and affordable theatre experience, the historic Carolina Theater is an excellent choice for a rainy night out! The 1,000-seat auditorium offers all types of family entertainment including classic movie nights and concerts.

Pinball, Air-hockey, and Beer! Oh My! One of the most popular rainy-day activities for young adults has become taking a trip to the local Barcade. In Greensboro, Boxcar Arcade holds the title of the city’s largest arcade bar and features 60 games, a full bar, and a mouth-watering pizza menu. They also showcase daily drink specials (including $1 Mimosas on Sunday!), family-friendly hours, and an event calendar full of live music, theme nights, and even free Yoga classes!

Greensboro boasts a rich history including being home to one of the most notable civil rights protests in United States’ history. The International Civil Rights Center & Museum provides an educational and interactive experience surrounding the impact of “The Greensboro Sit In’s” which started at the F.W. Woolworth lunch counter in downtown Greensboro. The museum even occupies the space where FW Woolworth once resided and showcases a variety of exhibits that bring light to civil rights movements across the US. If you are eager to learn more about the local history, make sure to stop by The Greensboro History Museum and check out the city archives!

Founded in Greensboro, Strike and Flame Candle Bar provides an interactive experience for participants to mix, pour, and curate their own custom candle or home fragrance! Your session will begin with selecting your favorites from their array of over 50 scents followed by the setting, blending, and pouring processes all guided by your Scent Specialist. You will leave your session with an aroma that reflects your own personal style! As a bonus, they allow participants to BYOB (wine, beer, champagne) to enjoy during their session and host weekly “Wine & Wick” events every Wednesday night at 6 PM. Owned by French Chef Reto Blaggi, Reto’s Kitchen offers cooking classes for a variety of globally inspired recipes. With small class sizes, participants get a hands-on experience with the instructor as well as a full meal and complimentary wine. For a smaller appetite, be sure to check out Wanderlust Boards’ workshops which focus on creating delicious and aesthetically pleasing charcuterie & dessert boards. If you would rather shake things up, GIA has several opportunities to participate in themed Cocktail Classes. You can even join their popular “Bourbon Club” and “Scotch Society” for exclusive events and tastings.
